Foodie Friday Reviews? Help!

I've been thinking about adding food reviews to Foodie Fridays. I'll try out some new, or even old, food products and review them. That said, are there any new food ingredients or products that you've heard about but aren't quite sure you want to jump into just yet? Let me know and I'll see if I can try it out and let you know what I think!

Cake Mix Cookies - Foodie Friday

Today's Foodie Friday is brought to you by the letter C and the number 7.

Why the letter C?

Because today we're making Cake Mix Cookies and they have coconut in them...well and cake mix too.

Why the number 7?

Because I just picked a random number. No real reason!

And now for the recipe. This is the recipe my mom had and I now use. It's tasty.

Shop and Tell vs. Haul

I've been watching Youtube videos for quite a while now and have seen many a haul and many a shop and tell. For some, there may not seem to be a difference, but in my eyes there is. Sometimes a video is called a haul when it should really be a shop and tell and sometimes the opposite is true. So what's the difference?

To me, a shop and tell is an opportunity to show and tell about all the amazing deals you got. Big name scrapbooking supplies for mere pennies? Ah-maze-ing! Shout to the world about your amazing find and tell everyone how they might be able to score the same or similar stuff. To me, this doesn't necessarily apply to any one category. All categories could have a shop and tell. Designer jeans on sale for 75% off? Again, shout to the world and let fellow money savers find great deals.

A haul, to me, is more about showing what you've gotten regardless of whether or not it was a deal of any kind. Bought the newest pair of big label shoes and they cost you $250? Didn't have a great coupon or find them on a super sale somewhere? They belong in a haul.

So that to me is the difference between a shop and tell and a haul. I am in no way saying that I don't enjoy hauls or that I enjoy shop and tells more than I enjoy hauls, I am just trying to make a distinction, at least for the purposes of my blog/Youtube.

My first shop and tell!

Yesterday I went shopping with my mom. We went to Big Lots and Dollar General. I was able to get several things I'd been looking for, and even a few things I was not! The video below is all the crafty things I got, but I also got other things.

I also got a new purse, clutch, make up brushes, nail clipper, nail file and a birthday present for my sister.

One of my most favorite meals - Foodie Friday

My husband, then boyfriend, and I discovered this meal several years ago and it quickly became one of my favorites. It is amazing. All of the wonderful flavors and the way it makes your house smell. It's making me hungry just thinking about it.

So what is it you're probably wondering. Chicken, asparagus and oven roasted potatoes. What's so special about that? Those are fairly ordinary, every day meal items.

It's not so much WHAT it is but how you make it. Keep reading for a sneak peek and general how-to make the most amazing meal ever! Ok well maybe not ever, but pretty darn close.

Random Post with No Real Point: I painted my nails

Yep I did. In fact I painted them Mama-San (#840) from Sinful Colors Professional.

I bought this color over a year ago from my local Meijer and it STILL has a great consistency. It's not thick or gloppy and still goes on smooth.

Ignore the fact that I still get polish on my fingers as I paint (I'm doing much better than when I was 6 though!). I used 2 coats because regardless of the color, I think the first coat always goes on too streaky. If it doesn't then it was put on too thick and takes forever to dry.

Masculine Valentine - Tutorial Tuesday

Welcome to Tutorial Tuesday week 2!

For those of you wondering how we got to Tutorial Tuesday without having Foodie Friday, I apologize. I decided in a fantastic rash of insanity to clean the bedroom last week. The amount of dust I found sent my allergies into a tizzy and they have now gone into some sort of cold/sinus thing. I was sick and in bed for most of Thursday, Friday and the weekend.

But anyhow, on to today's tutorial!

Corner Booksmarks - Corner Chompers - Tutorial Tuesday

Hey everyone!

Today is the first of 4, count them 4, amazing tutorials for the month of February. Some will be video tutorials and some will be the old fashioned step by step written out kind.

As you can see if you scrolled to the bottom of the post already (ending spoiler!), today's post is a video tutorial. I've been playing around with the idea of starting a YouTube channel and this is really the first video I did for it - even though another one was posted first. Please leave comments below or on YouTube if you like or dislike anything. I'm looking for constructive criticism as far as the video quality goes, not content.

So here's what the finished product will look like:

Super Bowl Sunday Treats - Foodie Friday

If you're like most Americans (assuming you are in fact American - if you're not, disregard today's post and come back next week) you probably know that this Sunday is very important. Why? Because it's Super Bowl Sunday!

And really, that's about all I know this year. I couldn't tell you who's playing without consulting my good friend Google or my dad. Eh, I really don't care about it this year I guess. However, I do care what you're going to be snacking on during one of the longest games of the season.

I've compiled some of the wonderful things I've found on Pinterest that I think would make amazing Super Bowl snacks. Let me know if you try something!

What's coming up for February 2012

In keeping with my resolution to be a better blogger, I've got a few things coming up for February. In my head, I've got grand things in store. Lots of pomp and circumstance.

Ok, well not really. In reality I have a few things planned and if they're accompanied by just a little pomp or a little circumstance well then so be it. I happen to think they'll be some great additions to the blog, but then I'd really hope I think any addition I come up with is pretty great.

So what's coming up?

New Features:
In addition to Foodie Friday posts this month, I'll be introducing Tutorial Tuesday. This won't always be card or paper crafting related, but it might be (I only have one ready so far so I really can't say). Sometimes it will be a video tutorial that you can also find on my YouTube channel and sometimes it will be a written out tutorial on the blog. I hope it will be an interesting feature to add. There will be at least 4 Tutorial Tuesdays (February 7, 14, 21 and 28). I'm not sure if this will be a continued feature or if it will be more sporadic after February. Feel free to leave a comment telling me how you feel about this below or on any of the upcoming Tutorial Tuesday posts.

Old Features:
As I said before, Foodie Friday will still keep chugging away. If you have any great recipes, tips or tricks you think I should try out, please let me know! I'm always on the look out for a great recipe and would love to feature some new ones!

New Blog Page:
I'm considering adding a "Shop my Stuff" section as a kind of virtual garage sale if you will. I have a lot of stuff left over from my wedding last year and a lot of stuff I'm finding I have no use for any more. If it could benefit someone else, I don't see the sense in keeping it. Keep checking back or leave some feedback in a comment if this is something you're interested in.

New Products:
As you may have noticed, a few new products have popped up in my Etsy shop. There is now a section of bookmarks! Right now they are corner bookmarks, but I may possibly be adding regular bookmarks as well. For the time being most of these are one of a kind because I have been using scraps of paper to make them. It uses up a bit of my leftover paper and gives me room for more stuff (as if I needed an excuse to get more stuff)!

So check out the new bookmarks (a few are pictured above) and keep an eye out for some great things in February!
