Make your garden beautiful with Miracle-Gro and The Gro Project

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Miracle-Gro. All opinions are 100% mine.

Now that it's officially after Mother's Day, I've been itching to get out in the garden and make things pretty again. Truthfully though, the great care we gave our flowers last year paired with the mild winter we had has given us some beautiful flowers already.

The tulips have come and gone, as have the crocosus. The peonies are blooming - it is after Memorial Day as well afterall - and the lilies have great greenery which tells me their blooms later in the season will be beautiful as well.

Since the majority of our already established plants and flowers are doing so well, all that's left is to add a few finishing touches and random pops of flowers to complete the yard.

That's where Miracle-Gro and their ideas for fun garden projects come in!

If you weren't already aware, Miracle-Gro has a great new resource, The Gro Project, that is perfect for getting some amazing ideas. That's exactly where I turned when I decided to add some fun elements to my garden this year.

After a quick look at The Gro Project I decided to make a trial run of the Origami Garden so that I would know exactly what it would look like and then I could decide what I'd put in it. The instructions were incredibly easy to print and follow.

First I made sure my trusty side kick was ready to help out. She was!

I then began by tracing the outline of the "pot" onto some cardstock. You're supposed to make this out of cardboad and make it bigger, but since I was just doing a trial run I decided to use the smaller template provided and cardstock.

It was so easy to trace and follow the lines to cut it out.

It was just as easy to fold everything and glue it together. If I had been making it larger and using cardboard I would have chosen a different adhesive, but for this trial I just used my scrapbooking ATG.

This trial run is super small but honestly I think it would be cute to hold some odds and ends or crafting supplies - especially since I wouldn't trust the cardstock to hold dirt, a plant and water.

Next was the Macrame part. Since I'm generally a paper crafter, working with the yarn was a bit tricky for me. Thankfully my assistant stepped in with some suggestions.

Eventually I got the hang of it and got everything done.

So now what would I do with the full sized version? I'm pretty sure I would try to find some white cardboard and a bright colored yarn. I would also use a smaller, brightly colored plant - like a Moss Rose. From my experience, Moss Roses also do pretty well in shallow dirt/pots so I think they would be great in these Origami Garden pots.

I would also use Miracle-Gro's Moisture Control Potting Mix to cut down on the watering since the pots are made of cardboard and I wouldn't want to water them too much.

What project would you choose?
