My name is Jessica and I'm addicted to Pinterest.
There, I said it. Pinterest makes me want clothes I'll never have enough closet space for, food I'll never have enough time to eat and plan, or re-plan, another wedding. I have pinned and repinned so many ideas, it's nearly overwhelming. Lately, my If I got to do it over - Wedding board has been overflowing with ideas. Looking back at how things actually happened, I also got to thinking about what I'd do differently. Pretty near the top of the list: invitations.
You may have seen the tutorial I posted for them some time ago (if not, you can find it here). You'll notice that I did everything for these invitations. I cut the paper, printed all the information, glued it all together, etc. My mom even helped with the embossing. It was a lot of work and at the time I was pretty proud of what I'd done.
Looking back I wonder why I didn't take help where I could have and simplified things. Yes, it was sort of fun making them, but it was also a lot of stress at a time when I didn't need any more stress. I was worried about everything printing straight and correctly. I had to take time to play with fonts to get things to look right, size them and resize them. It was never ending.
Recently I found a great website that could have completely eliminated the first three steps since Paper Direct will print your wedding stationary for you!
A quick browse of their website led me to these gorgeous invitations (Allure Specialty Flat Invitations if you're interested):

If you compare what my invitations looked like with these, the look is very similar. I would have used the middle one - black and silver - instead of cutting, pasting, printing, etc. my own. If I had any reservations about handing my invitations over to someone else, I could always have chosen to print my own information on their pre-printed, designed paper. That option is also cheaper, of course, than having them do all the work.
I could also have kept the belly band I used and I think they would have looked fine. The colors I chose match well and it would have coordinated nicely - in my opinion at least.
So there you have it. If I could re-do my wedding invitations, I'm fairly certain I would re-do them exactly like this. I would have saved myself a lot of frustration and time that could have been used to work on other things I had wanted to do but didn't because I ran out of time.
Did you DIY your wedding invitations? Would you go back and use invitations like these from Paper Direct if you could?
