Diamond Candles Review & Giveaway

I was beyond excited when I was contacted by Diamond Candles about trying one of their candles and hosting a review. I've seen friends like them on Facebook and post or re-post pictures in hopes of winning one and I have to admit that it got my curiosity going.

What exactly is a Diamond Candle? What makes it different from any of the thousands of other candles out there?

Personally, I think the idea is fantastic and I'm kind of sad I didn't think of it myself - but let's also be honest, I mostly dabble in paper crafts and candles are way out of my league. The whole concept kind of reminds me of the Cracker Jacks of my childhood - before they switched to just stickers, games, tattoos and whatever other cheap paper prizes they give out now. You got a treat to eat and then a surprise hiding somewhere in there. Same thing here. You get an amazing scented candle and then hiding down a ways is a ring!

As you can see from the picture above, the rings are worth $10, $100, $1,000 or even $5,000. How do you know how much yours is worth? If there's a marking on the inside of the band you should take it to a jeweler, or someone who would know, to have it appraised. If there's no marking it's safe to assume it's a $10 ring. Still though, if you spend about $30 on each candle by the time you figure in shipping, you're getting $10 of that back in the ring. That's not a bad deal. Ok so let's talk about the specific candle I received. I am in love with Bath & Body Works Pink Chiffon scent. To me it smells like cotton candy. I chose the Carnival Candy scent hoping it would smell pretty close to Pink Chiffon. Before I started burning the candle it smelled a lot like strawberry Skittles to me. It was really sweet with a hint of strawberry scent to it. When I started burning it, the strawberry scent went away and all I could smell was an amazingly sweet scent - just like cotton candy! Is it exactly like Pink Chiffon? No, but I get similar scent notes.

I was blown away by just how scented the candle is without being over powering. I'm always highly suspect of very scented candles because they can sometimes upset my allergies - especially cinnamon ones. I didn't have any problems at all with this candle though and it is so scented it made my entire house smell great - even upstairs!

On their website it says that it takes 10-15 hours of burning to get to the ring and I would say that's a fair estimate. I received my candle on a Friday and had to work that weekend. I burned it for a couple hours Friday evening before going to work, a few more Saturday evening and a few more Sunday evening before I was finally able to pry the ring packet out with a spoon. Had I not used a spoon for some assistance, it would have taken another hour or so for the everything around the ring to melt enough for it to loosen on its own.

Eventually I did manage to get this sucker out though! The ring was in a sealed plastic baggie wrapped in foil. I let it cool for a few minutes before unwrapping it.

The ring is gorgeous! Unfortunately I wasn't able to find any markings on the inside of the band so it's just a $10 ring. Also, it's a bit small to wear on any finger but my pinky which makes me think it's a size 7 or smaller. That's ok though! It's still a beautiful ring!
