elf Shop & Tell - February 2013

Last week elf was having a sale where if you bought $20 worth of products and entered a code, you would also receive a "mystery bag" full of $20+ worth of products. There were a few things I'd been wanting to get and a few I was curious about so I figured what the heck. The picture above is of what I purchased for $20.

If you would like to see a full review of anything specific, please don't hesitate to ask!

Walmart Christmas 2012 Gift Card Shop and Tell

I got a gift card from Walmart for Christmas and ended up needing to kill some time there while waiting on a prescription so of course I found a ton of stuff to spend it on. I also got 3 shirts, not pictured.

Since it was after Christmas when I was shopping, all the Christmas goodies were 50% off, making all of the regularly priced $0.97 Studio G craft supplies just $0.49. I then wandered away from the Christmas stuff and found some leftover Halloween Studio G things that were just $0.10 each!

Christmas themed paper
There are 6 sheets in each pack and I got 2 packs of this particular theme. There are also border strips included.

More elegant Christmas themed paper
I only got one of these paper packs, also 6 in a pack, though I wish I had gotten more. After looking at all the patterns in there, I realized some could easily be used for other things.

Stickers
I really thought I was getting two packs of the 3-tiered ones on the right but obviously that wasn't the case. I wanted more of the ones on the right because there are more of them, but the ones on the left are bigger.

Stamps:

Ribbon
I got two rolls of ribbon: red and brown. Because they're just polka dots, I can totally use them for other things as well.

Ink pads:
These are actually much, much better than the ink pads I bought after Christmas a few years ago. They're still very moist and work great!

Had I purchased these all at regular price they would have totaled $27.16 before tax ($28.93 with tax here). Because I got them all on sale, I paid just $9.43 before tax ($10.04 with tax)! That's a savings of $17.73 (or about 63%)!

Junkin' for Gems - Week 1

This past Saturday my mom and I headed out for a few hours of garage sales before we had to be at a Mother/Daughter Tea for Mother's Day. Newspaper in hand, we'd marked off 3 or 4 we really wanted to stop at for something that caught our eye in the paper. Of course we were also open to checking out things that weren't advertised and/or part of our initial plan.

A quick drive by of the first one on our list showed not much. There was one table inside a garage and it didn't look to be full of much of anything. Perhaps all of the good stuff had already been sold or maybe they hadn't started with much anyhow. Whatever the case, we kept on a drivin'.

The second one on our list was quite a bit more fruitful. They had advertised Saturday as being 1/2 off day! I was able to score all of these finds for less than $1!

$0.05

And then it was on to the next!

We met a super cute older guy who was really into antiques. He had a bowl like one my mom has that was passed down from my grandma. He was able to give her a little history of the bowl, as well as tell her which other ones went with the set - she knew there had been at least one other in the set. We also found out that the bowl we use for gravy is actually the smallest bowl in the set - we didn't even know they went together!

Moving on. I was able to get this score at his sale.

$5

It's not as good as the one I currently have, but it has some functions that my current one does not. It'll make a great back up in case anything goes wrong with the one I have and it may become my dedicated filming camera. And how can you go wrong for $5?!  (I know it says $15 but he had it on a "everything on this table $5" table and said to disregard any price on an item unless it was lower than the posted price for that table.)

Our final stop was unplanned because we saw a nifty sign and a bunch of cars parked. We had also just decided to skip our last stop because it was too far away for us to be able to make it to the tea on time (say that 3 times fast!).

Apparently 4 or 5 families had decided to clean house and have a garage sale in order to be more green and eco-friendly. Hey it works for me! I was able to score some scrapbooking/crafting storage and a few things I'll use for making Christmas cards this year for less than $5!

 $0.50

 $2

$0.50

In total I spent less than $10 on all of this great stuff. I'm excited to get the drawers cleaned up so I can start putting stuff in them and hopefully clean up my mess of a craft space a little bit.

Did you go Junkin' for Gems this weekend? Is there anything you can cross off your list? Feel free to comment about your finds and link to your post about your finds.

My first shop and tell!

Yesterday I went shopping with my mom. We went to Big Lots and Dollar General. I was able to get several things I'd been looking for, and even a few things I was not! The video below is all the crafty things I got, but I also got other things.

I also got a new purse, clutch, make up brushes, nail clipper, nail file and a birthday present for my sister.

January 7, 2012 Haul - Michael's and Walmart

One day last week I asked my sister if she wanted to go to Michael's with me. For me, Michael's is about 30 minutes away. Hobby Lobby, Walmart and another local craft store are all about 15 minutes. As you can imagine, I don't make it to Michael's often.

I was mostly going because they had a few things I wanted on sale and I was inspired by some of the hauls I'd seen people getting on YouTube. Plus, I love saving money wherever I can.

So without further ado, here's what I got from Walmart and Michael's.

Christmas Gift Card Haul #1

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! I know I sure did! All of the gifts I gave people were very well liked and I loved everything I received, especially the gift cards to Hobby Lobby and Walmart!

I decided to go shopping today to see what I could find to spend those gift cards on and came home with quite a bit of stuff, and even had some money left! I got several new papers, stamps and inks as well as blank cards for embellishing. I was going to try to come up with lots of different projects to help show off all I got, but decided instead to just take pictures of everything and add a little description.

Here goes.
